How to boost any keyword rank rapidly? On blogs and forums about IM, I often see people selling
ebooks or SEO services that they say can "force" Google to rank
first.
As if our website could be ranked first in an instant.
Usually, it's fake ...
Most of it contains only basic SEO techniques or
high-risk black hat techniques.
But there really is. There are ways we can do to definitely
go to page 1 of Google. I'm not saying it's easy, but it can.
1 This ranks some of the content in the AIM Guide:
1. Find out the type of content needed for the keywords you choose
The content isn't just an article, right?
But because articles are the easiest type of content,
usually, people always create content in the form of articles for any keyword.
This is the danger.
Google knows what content is needed for a keyword.
For example, in a keyword, it turns out that what is needed
is content in the form of a product page, video, or tool, then the article
content will not be able to get rank on the first page.
Although the quality of the article is high.
This has been discussed further in the guide to
understanding search intent. If you haven't read it, I suggest reading it now.
Simply put it like this:
For example, the keyword "buy Asus laptop"
People who use these keywords definitely want to buy a
laptop with the Asus brand, not want to look for articles that contain laptop
buying guidelines.
Then this includes transactional keywords.
So, the search results with these keywords must be in the
form of product pages from online stores.
There is nothing in the form of articles. Almost all product
pages or category pages from online stores.
Another example, the keyword "promo flight
tickets"
Not an article
Equally, none of them is in the form of articles.
So if you make an article that contains a flight ticket
promo, it will never enter page 1.
Therefore, do not make mistakes for content.
Before creating content, first make sure what type of content is needed for the targeted keywords
If your website is an eCommerce / online shop ...
One additional thing, if you are an online store owner.
Usually, online stores target keywords with transactional
intent (buy laptops, buy fashionable clothes, etc.) like the first example earlier.
Online store owners usually want their product pages to be
ranked 1.
But there is one problem:
Transactional keywords are usually already filled with
eCommerce and giant marketplaces such as Flipkart, Amazon etc.
Online store competition
The competition is heavy, especially for common products.
Now, if your online store only targets transactional
keywords, it will be very difficult to get to page 1.
Especially if you don't want to pay for promotional expenses
like these giants.
Therefore, this is my suggestion:
Make content that is informative and its contents in
accordance with the product/service you are selling.
Can be in the form of articles, videos, or other content.
Anyway, so that your website is valuable.
This is because the information content can be shared
through other people's social media, forums or blogs, while product pages are
very rare.
Because our website is valuable and often shared, Google
will consider our website a good reputation.
After that, product page rank will also go up.
There is another benefit:
content can also help increase sales.
2. Understand the factors that influence ranking on Google
Those who are familiar with SEO will immediately answer:
"Backlink".
It's true, backlinks are indeed the main factor ...
... but it's not that simple.
Backlinks can indeed affect website ranking, but NOT ALL
backlinks can affect ranking. Even if it's wrong, the effect is negative.
Backlinks are not all the same.
The types are different, the quality is also different.
Before that, let's first discuss what factors have no effect
and can have a negative impact. So you don't go wrong.
This is what has no effect and can even have a negative
impact:
- Use bold/italic/ underline on keywords
- Write keywords several times in the content
- Many headings (H1, H2, H3, ...) contain keywords
- Automatic content sharing to social media
- Put backlinks on blog comments, social bookmarking, guest books, and the like
- Make backlinks from web 2.0, Private Blog Network (PBN), and zombie blogs
- I often get questions from readers, the keyword must appear how many times on one page ... the heading must contain how many keywords ... how many internal links must be there ...
... do not be too dizzy with it, not too influential.
Regarding backlinks, type number 5 now has no effect while
number 6 could potentially cause penalties.
That's not good ... now let's discuss the good ones.
Keyword in the URL & page title
There is on-page SEO, there is off-page SEO. For on-page SEO
(besides keyword research and content creation), there's really not much we
need to do.
Focus on just these two things.
Location of keywords on a web page
So if the keyword you choose for example "make money online", then include those keywords in the page title and in the
URL.
Don't waste too much time on on-page SEO, especially if your
website is simple (blog for example).
Contextual and editorial backlinks from websites with high
reputation
Wow, the term makes it dizzy.
I said there are many types of backlinks, some of which are
not good already mentioned above.
This is the type of backlink that can dramatically increase
your website's ranking. Even if you only have 1.
First understanding:
Contextual backlinks are backlinks that appear in a section
of a web page that addresses a particular topic. For example in an article
about Football, there is a link to another website, meaning the link includes a
contextual backlink in the topic of football.
Editorial backlinks mean backlinks provided by the website
owner's will. Not because of rewards (money, barter, etc.), but because they
really want to recommend your website/content because of content quality.
Understand carefully ...
Simply put, there is one fundamental difference between good
and bad backlinks:
Good backlinks are given by others of their own volition.
While backlinks that are less good that we make ourselves.
Good backlinks = given by others.
Poor backlinks = self-made.
Of course, you may have heard the words of people who say that
we have to get dozens or hundreds of backlinks in order to enter page 1 of
Google.
Not true.
If the quality backlinks, we can be ranked 1 with only 1-2
backlinks.
If you've got hundreds of backlinks but have not entered
page 1, it means the backlink is wrong.
Visitor Satisfaction Factor
This is an important factor but is often overlooked.
Let's logic ...
Google is a business, they have rivals (Bing, DuckDuckGo,
etc.).
How do you try to make them superior to their rivals? Easy, how
to provide satisfying search results for its users.
Is that correct?
If we as users are not satisfied with Google, eventually
will move to other search engines.
So Google will definitely always try to make the search
results that appear satisfying to us, so we do not switch to another product.
Okay, but how to be satisfied?
Show a website that looks not frustrating, the loading is
not slow, and if opened from mobile give a mobile-friendly.
And one more important thing:
The website with the most quality content.
Visitor satisfaction factor
If you now have a website, images from the perspective of
the visitors. Do you think they will be satisfied or not with your website?
If satisfied, that's good.
If not, increase it again.
3. Create content that can invite backlinks
This stage may seem complicated, complicated, or too much,
especially if you are a beginner. But understand carefully, because this is the
key.
From the explanation above, we have agreed that contextual
& editorial backlinks have the biggest effect.
But let's think again ...
... why do people still like to search for backlinks by
submitting to social bookmarking, guest books, blog comments, and black hat
techniques when it's not good?
There are 2 reasons:
First, because it's easy.
Just submit directly to get a backlink.
Though not really. Difficult, because the effect is very
small. So you have to submit it to hundreds or thousands of new websites, the
effect starts to appear
(even if it hasn't been penalized).
Second, because no one wants to give a backlink.
If you are a website owner (especially a blogger), you know
what I mean. Every time I make an article, no one at all wants to give a
backlink.
I was like that too ...
So instead of zeroing backlinks, it's better to submit to
social bookmarking, blog comments, etc ...
This is what we will discuss now.
For that, there is one thing that you must understand first:
If the content is not special, it won't be able to get backlinks
from other people
Naturally, try to imagine:
Somewhere there is a blogger you don't know. The blogger is
making a mediocre article, nothing special ...
... if you as a website owner will be willing to give
backlinks?
Impossible.
Why do you also provide backlinks, right ... just the usual
content ...
So from that we need these 8 recipes.
These 8 recipes, if we use, our content will be amazing.
Better, interesting, quality, than other content. More special.
So that our content has a great opportunity to get
backlinks.
How to get quality Backlinks?
Here it is:
Recipe 1 - Topics that can be used as a reference
A few days ago I chatted with some of my friends in one
group, chatting about web programming.
Then came the terms "front-end" and
"back-end".
Then someone asked what it meant.
It is hard to explained in chat.
Because we are chatting, lazy typing at length.
Then to make it easy, one of the people in this chat group
put a link to the article which contains the understanding and explanation of
the 2 terms.
That is the purpose of "a topic that can be used as a
reference".
The article is recommended because it can help to explain
something.
The story above is indeed not a backlink, but the case
applies:
Suppose there is a blogger who writes articles, he needs to
explain something that is not too related to the main topic. Instead of writing
at length, he can recommend your content as a reference.
When recommended by others, we get a backlink.
So, choose a topic that can be used as a reference.
Recipe 2 - Contains reliable data/statistics
data-headline-results
For people who create content, data can make their content
more reliable and more interesting. So that more readers.
Now, if we provide data, then the data can be quoted by
others.
When the data is quoted, they will provide a backlink.
So, by including data we can get a backlink.
The question is, how do you get/create data?
Here are some of the easiest ways:
- Do an online survey with Google Forms, spread it to the online community
- Do an analysis of something on your own website/business
- Quote data from other websites, don't forget to include the source
Recipe 3 - Pride for personal identity
To explain what this means, I will use an example.
For example, if I am a Gymnast (supporters of the Gym club), then I read this article from Fitness-Tips:
Gymnast articles 8500 shares
I will definitely share.
People who are proud of their identity as a gymnast will share
the article with their friends on social media.
Because they are a fitness lover, and they want their friends to know
that they are fitness lover.
That is what happened in the article.
Just look at the number of shares ... 8500
Crazy.
That is the reason why content that contains group or
personal identity is very popular. Because people with this identity feel proud
and want to look positive.
Recipe 4 - More complete than others
Apparently, long articles tend to get a lot of backlinks.
The logic is like this:
Imagine there are articles A and B, the topic is the same,
the writing style is the same.
Article A only discusses the points with a brief
explanation. While article B explains in detail the steps, accompanied by
pictures, examples so that it is clear and easy to understand.
Then your friend needs information about the topic.
Which article would you recommend?
B, sure.
... that's the reason.
That's what I did in the SEO guide article which is now
ranked 1 on Google. Here are the chapters in it:
The chapter in the SEO guide
Before this, there had never been an article in India that discussed completely about SEO from A-Z.
If people want to learn SEO, they usually have to open
several blogs, forums, or search for English-language sites.
Therefore, I made a guide.
The total is approximately 5,000 words.
The result, about 2-3 months later the guide is ranked first
on Google.
Recipe 5 - The contents can be immediately applied
Let's test the memory ...
... what was the news in the newspaper yesterday that you
read?
Some people I ask this question usually forget, some just
remember after a few seconds/minutes.
Why did you forget?
Because most of the articles in the newspaper do not bring
any impact on our lives. Although the contents are good, but it has no
significant impact.
So in one day also forgot.
Now imagine the content on your website like the example
above.
If website visitors have forgotten your website, they will
not be able to recommend your website.
Different from the following cases:
At the end of 2014, I accidentally came across a video that
taught fast ways to tie shoelaces.
Then I tried to follow the guidelines, apparently, it was
faster than the way I had done so far.
Since watching the video until now, the way I tie my shoes
changed to be exactly as taught.
This is an example of "workable content".
If your content can be directly applied by visitors, they
will always remember your website.
Recipe 6 - Build positive relationships with other website
owners
Imagine this case:
There are 2 people who need help from you. The conditions of
the request are exactly the same. The difference is, one of your good friends,
the other person is not known.
You can only help 1 person.
Which one will you help?
It's natural for friends to be alone ...
We as humans tend to be more willing to help people we know
well, even though the demands are heavier.
This also applies to backlinks.
We want to get backlinks from other website owners, right?
Then you must establish a positive relationship with them.
If they know you, then they will be more willing to give a backlink.
How? We start from our own content.
Namely by giving backlinks first through your content to
their content.
Here is an example:
Link to money-making
In this article I want readers to understand how to create
an online store with WordPress.
Therefore, I recommend the article from Money Making because the contents are the most complete than the others.
Recipe 7 - Have valuable assets
All websites are chasing articles.
As a result, people are bored with just articles. Just look
at the Facebook and Twitter timelines, all article links.
The article is "weak".
If your content is only an article, only letters without the
other, then your content is weak. Especially because it's not interesting and
it's too general.
That's why articles should always be supported by more
valuable assets.
This is what I meant:
- Images, photos, infographics, The video
- Tools, software, apps
- Data / statistics (discussed earlier)
- PDF files: ebook, checklist, etc.
- Templates, plugins
Everything is indeed more difficult to make than just
articles, but the results will also be much higher.
From the list above, in my opinion, the easiest to make are
numbers 1 and 5.
According to Neil Patel from Quicksprout, infographic
content on average gets 37.5% more backlinks than regular articles.
Even just taking pictures of yourself is even better.
When your image is used, you get a backlink.
Another example, a template (for example a blog template).
This is sorted by a number of backlinks:
Therefore, provide "assets" in your content.
Recipe 8 - Triggering controversy
The controversy that I am referring to here does not mean
creating articles that contain false stories, are noisy, or that spread hatred.
The controversy means this:
In a topic, there are 2 or more sides. We as
creators choose and support one side.
As in SEO, there are concepts of black hat and white hat. In
this blog included in this article, I stand on the side of the white hat, not black
hat. Therefore black hat SEO practitioners sometimes do not like some of the
content on this blog.
So there are 2 opposing parties when reading your content.
When our content is shared, these two sides will discuss
each other and debate between disagreements
So that it will attract the attention of many people.
For example in the article get money from this blog.
Number of blogging article shares
The number of shares is quite a lot.
In the article, I mentioned that bloggers should avoid using
AdSense as a source of income.
Then the article is shared with the AdSense community.
As a result, many people in the group commented.
Some are positive, some are negative.
Some people who agree with my statement then recommend the
article through his blog.
So that the article goes to page 1 of Google:
Rank 4 ways to get money from blogs
Even though I never found a backlink.
Consider a few of these things when creating controversial
content:
- The topic and contents must be positive for one party
- Don't talk nonsense, it will damage your own reputation
- All statements you make must be reasonable and can be proven
- In essence, your content is not just looking noisy.
There must be people who agree with your way of thinking.
For example, if you create an article that contains
disappointment about a product, the contents must really happen. Not just
bullshit.
That's 8 recipes to make content that is able to invite
backlinks.
Not everything has to be included in a piece of content, but
the more the better.
Apart from these 8 things, there is 1 more mandatory:
4. Create higher quality content than on page 1 of Google
Suppose I want to learn to play the guitar.
Then I search the tutorial on Google.
It turns out that in rank 1 there is a complete, easy to
understand guide, equipped with pictures, videos, and training material.
Then there is a blogger who is eyeing those keywords too.
He made an article, the title "How to Learn to Play the
Guitar".
In this article, there are only short tips, no tutorials, no
pictures, no videos. There are only writing along with the 500 words.
If you have studied guitar, surely you know that 500 words
is not enough to explain how to play the guitar.
Well, the question:
Logically, is it possible that this 500-word article by the
blogger outperformed the content that was on page 1 earlier?
Almost impossible ...
... except if somehow he can manipulate Google.
Complete content is definitely more recommended, get more
backlinks, and is preferred by many people.
This is why quality is number 1.
Above we have already seen 8 recipes for getting backlinks.
If the content you create is no more quality than it already is, all the
recipes are in vain.
Now we will learn how to create quality content.
How?
With the KTP method.
In brief, here are the 3 steps that you will take to create
content based on these methods:
- Gather the best articles on the same topic
- Improve the contents so that our articles become the best
- Promote to the right people (discussed in point 5 below)
To be easier to understand, I will use the SEO guide from
GuideIM as a case study. This article is ranked 1 for the keyword "learn
seo"
Case study: the process of creating SEO guide articles
We first analyze the main keywords: "learn SEO".
What is clear, people who search for these keywords would
want to learn, not buy courses or SEO services.
This keyword needs content in the form of a guide, can be in
the form of articles, ebooks, or videos. I choose the easiest to make, which is
the article.
Step 1 - Gather articles on the same topic
This is a mandatory stage. Although you already understand
what you are going to write, but you still need to look for other articles in
the same topic.
The purpose:
- You know what material needs to be discussed
- You know how quality the content on page 1, so we can make even better
Therefore I search on Google with the keyword "learn
SEO".
Then all the websites on the first page I noted on Google
Sheets (can also be in Excel), along with their information.
Here are the notes:
Summary of search results learning SEO
The results are unsatisfactory.
There are no guidelines that are really structured from
basic to complete.
If I'm someone who wants to learn SEO, then those five
websites won't seem to make me really understand.
Meaning:
The opportunity to be ranked 1 is wide open because I
believe I can make better content
The articles in the search results can not be used as a
benchmark
Because of that, I turned to the English keyword "SEO
guide".
Much better:
Summary of SEO guide search results
These five content that I made the benchmark.
Especially 2 articles from Moz and QuickSprout which now are
often used as a place of recommendation to start learning SEO.
In this stage, imagine those of you who want to learn ...
... thus you can know what are the advantages and
disadvantages of each content.
Step 2 - Create a better content structure
After reading through various SEO guidelines in these 2
languages, I was able to know what was good and what was not.
I can also know what material should be discussed and not
discussed.
After that, the structure is arranged:
The structure of SEO learning articles
So that the quality is better, then I make it so:
The material is more complete than the others in B.
Can be directly applied by the reader
The format is better to read
There are assets in the form of PDF files that can be
downloaded
Of the 8 recipes above, 3 of which are included in the SEO
guidelines that I made.
That is why this article can be ranked 1.
Be careful in this stage:
If you create articles in Indonesian and use English
articles as a benchmark (as I did earlier), DO NOT create translated articles.
Always create different and better content.
If you directly translate from English, you will not be able
to enter page 1 because there is a big possibility that someone else has
already translated it too.
Will be considered as a duplicate content.
Tips for eCommerce websites
I explained earlier what an eCommerce website should do;
create information content, so that the website is of value to visitors.
There is one more thing:
Make your product pages better than other websites.
For example, provide a good photo, an interesting product
explanation (not the origin of copy-paste), display a review from the buyer,
and provide an "asset" in the form of a discount coupon.
The point is make them more satisfied when visiting.
5. Promote content until it goes to page 1
I emphasize the word until.
This is a brief conversation that really happened on
Facebook between Writer (R) and a visitor (V):
V: I have made quality content according to
what is taught at the SEOPoint, but how come it hasn't been on page 1 for a month?
R: Has the content been promoted?
V: Already
R: How do you promote it?
V: I posted on Facebook, Twitter, Google+
R: That's all?
V: Yes, that's all
Questions like this I often receive via Facebook or email
from readers.
Does anyone know where it's wrong?
Too short!
Content promotion is not a one-time job ...
The higher the competition, the longer the content promotion
process should be. Even if it takes months.
Until the target is reached, page 1.
(but not necessarily every day ... as long as you don't
abandon it)
For example, one of the articles in this SEOPoint took 3
months from the time it was made to enter page 1 of Google:
Business opportunity content ranking
Since it was published to enter page 1, for 3 months the promotion continues to be done routinely.
I will not discuss all the content distribution techniques
in this guide, because it will be too long ...
... therefore, please go to the following 3 guidelines:
13 content promotion techniques (don't skip the concept)
Case study: increasing blog visitors by 419%
14 + 7 ways to get quality backlinks
All three articles must be understood if you want to be
ranked 1 on Google.
But don't read all at once, mostly.
Since this article is in the form of case studies, I will
discuss which techniques are most effective when I use them in the Guide
Create your own community on social media
When SEOPoint was new, about the first 2-3 months, I tried to
make my own community on Facebook.
It turned out that the results were extraordinary.
This Facebook group
when it was first created could get more than 2000 members in 1-2 days.
This is what I did:
- Create a group on Facebook
- Look for other groups active in the same topic
- Create content as a file (PDF, video, etc.)
- Post the content in your own group
- Share the content with other groups, invite them to join your group to download the content
This is the location of the menu to create a group, for
those who have never:
How to create a FB group
If your audience is not a Facebook user, the alternatives
are Google+, BBM, Line @ , Instagram, etc.
You can also try more than 1 if you have plenty of time.
In the group that I created, every time I post a new link,
there are about 300-500 visitors to this website.
Not bad right?
The more visitors, the higher our chances of getting
backlinks.
Make an expert roundup
This technique is very popular abroad, but it is still very
rarely used in Indonesia.
An expert roundup is an article whose contents are a collection
of opinions or tips on a topic from experts in their fields.
For example this:
Blogging roundup strategy
Content like this almost always gets lots of shares and
backlinks.
The reason is that the experts that we include in it will
help promote the content.
Within hours of being published, the traffic immediately
exploded:
Visitors increased dramatically
Not many people want to use this technique because they are
shy or afraid to interview experts.
Though actually not difficult, just send an email.
Guest blogging on popular blogs
This is the easiest way in my opinion.
Imagine, by writing on other people's blogs that are already
popular, it means we will get:
Visitors of them
Quality backlinks
No cost, no hassle.
A few days after publishing a guest post, the effect can be
immediately seen:
Hundreds of visitors a day ...
Guest blogging results from 1 post
And page 1 in 7 days:
Ranking of guest blogging results
But be careful ...
Because guest blogging is easily manipulated, Google issued
a warning against guest blogging that is done carelessly.
Here is a quote from Matt Cutts when he was at Google:
Guest blogging is done; it's just gotten too spammy. In
general, I would not recommend accepting a guest blog post unless you are
willing to vouch for someone personally or know them well. Likewise, I wouldn't
recommend relying on guest posts, guest blogging sites, or guest blogging SEO
as a link building strategy.
In essence, now many are doing guest blogging en masse ...
so it is considered spam.
Therefore, consider the following things before the guest
blogging:
- Choose a blog that has a good reputation (how? See for yourself with the naked eye, not difficult)
- Don't offer money or other rewards
- Don't use guest blogging services
- Create quality content for your guest post
- Don't do guest blogging on many blogs at once
- Just like other aspects of SEO, quality is more important than quantity.
If done correctly, there is no need to worry about penalty
risk. Many startups and large companies do guest blogging as part of their
marketing strategy.
Confused about where to start? Do this
That's all the strategy.
No matter how difficult the competition, you can definitely
go to page 1 if all the above strategies are carried out correctly.
Now we conclude everything together.
Actually, this article was going to be made short, but
somehow it became long because there are also many concepts that need to be
discussed.
Put simply, this is the order of action:
Step 1: Determine the 1 topic content or keywords that you
want to seek to get ranked 1. Find out what type of content is best for that
keyword.
Step 2: Record the top 5 content on page 1 of Google, write
down the points/material contained in the content. Also, note the
disadvantages.
Step 3: Plan your own content, the material must be higher
quality.
Step 4: Choose some of the 8 recipes that can be used in the
content to get backlinks.
Step 5: Create content. Don't rush, good content takes
more than 1-2 days. Make sure this content is the best then it already is.
Step 6: Plan the promotion. Make a list of websites for
guest posts, find the right community, etc.
Step 7: Do promotions regularly (once a week, 2 times a
week, it's up to you) until the target is reached
Finally, if you have anything to ask about this guide, or if
you already have a shadow of the content you want to create.
